Ties of consanguinity
Webbconsanguinity ( ANTHROPOLOGY) a kinship term expressing the relationship of DESCENT from a common ancestor. The tie is therefore based on biological facts as opposed to cultural facts (i.e. parental or sibling ties, not spouses). In theory, this opposes it to affinal relationships based on marriage, but ‘facts’ can rarely be classified so clearly.
