Optics wave lab

WebWhen light interacts with an object that is several times as large as the light’s wavelength, its observable behavior is like that of a ray; it does not prominently display its wave characteristics. We call this part of optics “geometric optics.”. This chapter will concentrate on such situations. Webwave has a single frequency and is infinitely long; that is, the wave exists throughout the Universe. (A wave of finite length must necessarily have a mixture of frequen - cies.) When this concept is explored in Section 18.8, we will find that ideal waves can be combined to build complex waves, just as we combined particles.
