You don't have to be Shinto to eat sushi, either. Or Mennonite to eat cinnamon rolls. But this is like comparing apples and apostles. There is still plenty of personal benefit of course, but inevitably the typical believer reads the Bible as a devotional aid for what personal inspiration and moral guidance they need as individuals.
