The only option I can find in Maya is to use the Maya Catmull-Clark option and use ‘Propogate Hard Edges’ and ‘Preserve Hard Edges’ but it doesn’t work the same way as 3DS Max does.

WebWhen all is said and done, all your hard edges MUST be UV seams. You cannot keep those UVs stitched together without a dodgy ass bake. If keeping the UVs together has other benefits you would like, such as more seamless/convenient texturing - then bevel the edge and smooth them. In substance painter, check on Average Normals for baking hard edges.
