It lacks varitone switch which is the main reason EB3 was famous and also the current pickups are 6.2k which are weaker compared to the 30k mudbucker and the 7.2K bridge pickup of the old EB3. WebThe original EB-3 (like I have) were shortscale, with a 30.5" shortscale neck. Epiphone currently makes a version that has the same body as the original, but mates that with a 34" scale neck. Even the 30.5" shortscale tends to be rather neck-heavy, even with light tuners.
