WebJun 1, 2012 · The ribbon cable can be disconnect from the DVD drive - carefully release the ribbon cable grip (tiny brown sliver of plastic) and pull out the cable. Re-assembly is the reverse process. Just be careful pressing the grip back into place and make sure the cable is square into the socket.
